We do not just build drones. We engineer resilience.

ShadowVu Ltd is a United Kingdom private limited company. We design and manufacture ultra-high volume UAV platforms on a secure supply chain, and we bring certainty, clarity and care to a decision most organisations only get to make once.

01North Star

Certainty, clarity and care, brought to a high-risk decision.

There can be no compromise when it comes to public safety and the protection of critical infrastructure.

Choosing the right and lasting drone solution can be a high-risk leap into the unknown. How safe and reliable is the aircraft? How complex is it to fly, and to maintain in the field, by the people who will actually operate it? What is the total cost of ownership once attrition, repair and downtime are counted honestly?

In truth there are so many variables that it is easy to make the wrong decision. Our promise is to cut through that complexity and guide you to the right solution, with the evidence to support it.

We are creative thinkers, technical innovators and proven experts in our field. Organisations trust us because of our design, our scalable manufacturing, our secure supply chain and support that does not stop at the invoice. Resilience is not a feature we added late; it is the reason the platform is shaped the way it is.

Get the full picture.

Three words that set the standard for everything we put in front of a customer: the whole picture, not the flattering part of it.

02Leadership

The person accountable for the platform.

ShadowVu is led by its founder, who holds the chief executive and chief technology roles together. Commercial direction and technical direction sit in the same place.

Jim Thomson

Chief Executive · Chief Technology Officer · Founder

Jim founded ShadowVu to build drones in a sustainable manner and at ultra-high volume, and he set the engineering brief that still governs every airframe.

That brief was unusually specific from the outset: field maintainable with ordinary tools, no exotic materials, and no dependence on complex assembly. Those three constraints are the reason the aircraft can be built in three minutes and repaired where it lands, rather than returned to a depot for a quarter.

He also set the supply chain condition. Every partner is required to document where their technology is sourced, where it is manufactured and how it is manufactured, before they enter the chain. For defence and critical infrastructure buyers, that provenance is the procurement condition rather than a preference.

“Our overwhelming goal in the business is to build an ecosystem that is reliable.”

The brief has not changed since the first airframe.

“I founded ShadowVu to build drones in a sustainable manner, and I wanted to do this at ultra high volumes.”

“I also wanted to make them field maintainable, so that they could be maintained by somebody working remotely with ordinary tools.”

“We have removed the need for exotic materials. We have removed the need for a lot of complex assembly.”

04Intellectual property

Registered, filed and held.

The platform is protected in the places that matter to a manufacturing business: the marks, the patent position, and the design rights that sit with the design for manufacture.

Holding the design for manufacture alongside the design rights is what allows flexible tooling to adapt to a new variant in around two weeks, rather than waiting on a third party that owns the drawings.

05Sovereign manufacture

Provenance is not a preference. For our customers it is the procurement condition.

Our product is made in the United Kingdom on a secure supply chain. We source parts, and select partners, from friendly nations, and every partner is required to document where their technology is sourced, where it is manufactured and how it is manufactured.

Eighty five percent of the aircraft is made in house, on a defined pathway to remove China from the supply chain entirely. Materials are recycled and recyclable, so the ESG position is a property of the construction rather than something bought back afterwards.
